Ingredients:

1.5 lbs. lean ground beef

1 can (28 oz) organic black beans (rinsed & mashed)

1 large onion (diced)

2 garlic cloves (sliced)

1 cup plain parsley (chopped)

1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce

2 tbsp. plain breadcrumbs

1 tsp. sea salt

1/4 tsp. black pepper

1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Your choice of sliced cheese (I used cheddar)

1 tbsp. olive oil

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Heat the olive oil in a small skillet and cook the onion and garlic for a few minutes until softened, let cool and put aside

Drain and rinse the black beans, pat them dry.  Place in a mixing bowl and coarsely mash most of the beans, while leaving some whole.

Add the rest of the ingredients including the cooled onion and garlic, mixing well with hands to combine, if mixture is still too sticky, add a few more breadcrumbs.

Form into large patties.

*Makes about 6-8 large patties*

Bake in a greased 9×13 baking dish uncovered for about 35 minutes turning over once after half the cooking time.

Add your choice of sliced cheese on top of each burger patty during the last 5 minutes of baking or until melted.

Serve Hot!
